Dear Reader,
I just want to say thanks for taking time out of your busy day to visit my About page. This page aims to give you a clearer picture of who I am and what Easycycling about.
I’m Rebecca Ramsay (formerly ‘Bishop’), a former professional cyclist, certified personal trainer, life coach and a mum of two young kids.
I’m British and married to Euan Ramsay. We currently live out in Switzerland as ‘expats’.
What is my promise to you? What is Easycycling all about?
My promise to you is to deliver simplified training advice that gets quality results fast! That is my key mantra – and what Easycycling is all about at its core and what I strive to aim for in every blog post, every piece of communication to you. Why? because I know how tricky it is when starting out and feeling overwhelmed with information.
In addition, I know how hard the sport is and have learnt it from the bottom up – the hard way. I had no coach. Alas, each time I tried to get a coach, they had no road racing experience at international level – so decided to do it all myself – which I don’t advise anyone to do btw. I did cleaning jobs to pay my way up the ranks, even lived with Asylum seekers (cheapest but poorest accommodation) near Geneva to be near my cycling club. I know how hard it is when you have to read books late into the night and decipher what the science says and analyse your own results…and keep perspective when the world seems as though it is falling apart! The advantage is, I learnt one-heck-of-a lot and got to the professional ranks, something I’m proud of achieving. In addition, ‘the path’ gave me back a deeper understanding about cycling and myself that no university degree can teach you…so, whenever I give advice, I give it my way – simplified and to the point.
I therefore combine training advice with personal development to bring the best out in you and help you reach your true potential.
When you are the best you can be physically and are operating from a positive mindset, you’ll not only see your cycle results skyrocket, but you’ll be a happier more fulfilled person too.
Although most of my advice is for free, my first few paid products are ebooks! I have published the first two ebooks. The Cycling Turbo Training for Beginners has been a best seller for over a month now, and ebook number 2: The Time-Starved Cyclist’s Training Formula is catching up. I’m delighted with the positive response and this has given me motivation to continue on and write ebook number 3! If you’d like to suggest what I should write, or have ideas – do email me – I listen carefully to feedback: rebecca@easycycling.com
My core values for Easycycling are:
1. Aim to deliver great value and outstanding service at all times.
2. Integrity, authenticity, and accountability are absolutely paramount to me.
3. Pursue excellence in all I do: for you, my readers, first and foremost.
4. Foster a spirit of FUN, FAMILY and FRIENDSHIP at all times.
5. To lead others towards a healthy lifestyle and work passionately towards getting more people on bikes for life.
Who is Rebecca Ramsay?
Cycling is my passion!
I’m simply a girl who rides a bike. I’ve literally dedicated most of my life to riding a bike and racing bikes too (as well as trying other sports that use a bike as well, like triathlon).
I am a former multi-sport athlete: cross country ski champ, international triathlete and international cyclist with elite status, turning professional in cycling in 1998.
A quick overview of my greatest sporting achievements:
- Senior national age group triathlon champion 20-24 – Olympic and Sprint distances
- Senior national cross-country ski champion 30km freestyle and 10km classic.
- Multiple road racing, stage and time trial wins regionally in France.
- Podium places in national cycling road races in France and Switzerland.
- Took part in the Giro d’Italia and Women’s Tour Feminine (Tour de France).
- Participated in World Cup cycling events around Europe.
- Represented Great Britain in the GB Cycling Team on four occasions.
- I turned a professional road racing cyclist in 1998 and travelled extensively around Europe, USA, Australia and visited New Zealand, representing a number of top women’s professional teams.
I travelled extensively around Europe, USA, Australia and visited New Zealand, representing Great Britain on a few occasions, and then riding for a handful of women’s professional teams.
I was based near Annecy, France during my sporting career. I retired from competitive elite cycling in 2004 at 30, because of funding issues.
I moved from France to Scotland in 2004 to start a new path.
Not long after moving, I met my husband-to-be on a gentle club bike ride one Sunday, late December 2004!
Euan and I got married in 2007 and went on to have a little girl called “Isla” in December 2009. And I just recently had a little boy called “Angus” March 2012..!
We all now live out in Switzerland having moved December 2011.
Now living in Wonderland – Switzerland…!
Isla and Angus are by far my greatest achievements and I’m so incredibly proud to be a stay at home mummy for them both.
Now our family is complete I am keeping fit by doing a combination of mountain running and cycling, with cross-country skiing in winter – not to race, but to keep up with my kids!
At present I run this blog - a site which aims to help you to become the best cyclist you can be. This is run on a part time basis for me right now, as my full time job and priority is bringing up my young family.
If you are interested in improving your cycling, then this site has a wealth of info to help you out.
I am here to answer any questions you have about any aspect of your fitness or training…can’t wait to hear from you…!
Thanks for reading and enjoy my site!
